St. Wilfrid’s Youth Mission Team plans to embark on a two-week mission adventure in August 2011. We believe that by traveling to Tanzania, we form critical relationships with our brothers and sisters across the globe. Our youth will see how their efforts at home are helping to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty and provide better educational opportunities for children and teens in the villages we visit. We believe that, in our global community, trips like these underscore what it means when Jesus commands, “Love your neighbor.”
St. Wilfrid’s Youth Mission Team will be serving the students at Peace House Secondary School (peacehouseafrica.org) in Tanzania for two weeks, a school for orphans and other vulnerable children.
Our planned projects will be construction while students are in class and working with the kids after their classes have ended, tutoring conversational English. Our church also has existing relationships in Arusha Tanzania at Nyota Kindergarten and Endupoto Primary School. We will be visiting projects for which we have fund raised here at home. We plan to provide a soccer field for Endupoto, visit families who have received animals we have purchased for them, and working with the children at Nyoto Kindergarten.
